Join PalFish, Read and Learn English with Taekwondo Olympic Champion

On June 16, 2023, three months ahead the opening of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou, Palfish held a seminar on children’s reading habits in Hangzhou to encourage children to better learn English. The event invited Ms. WU Jingyu, the two-time Olympic taekwondo gold medalist, also as the PalFish event’s Picture Book Reading Ambassador, to share her parenting experience as an Olympic mom.
In 2006, Wu Jingyu won the first taekwondo gold medal in the history of the Asian Games for China. In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2012 London Olympic Games, she won two gold medals.
On the seminar, Wu Jingyu started from her own experience and shared with the students of why learning English is important. She told a short story about introducing Chinese culture in English on global stages. Wu Jingyu played games with children after the seminar and encouraged them to read and speak English more.

When discussing the topic of parenting, Wu Jingyu stressed, "Learning English can not only improve children’s language ability, but also help them to win more opportunities. With a new language, children will be easier to expand their horizons, and better understand multiculturalism of the world."
Wu Jingyu also added, "Learning English for the Asian Games is rather meaningful. Everyone can contribute a bit to the Asian Games and Hangzhou, even it’s just saying hello and show the way to foreigners. The Asian Games is a global sports event, the participants come from different lingual and cultural backgrounds. As the world’s common language and one of the official languages of the Games, English helps connect every one during the Games.”

After the seminar, Li Xiao, the head of global business of Palfish, donated English learning supplies to teachers and students of Hangzhou Xianlin Central Primary School and Hemu Primary School on behalf of Palfish.

In the future, Palfish will continue to make efforts to help children actively participate in more interesting and fun English learning.
